Upon closer inspection and excavation, researchers determined that the find included 175 silver Roman denarii coins. Nearly all were in good condition, making this one of the few hoards of ancient coins found intact, according to the group. The coins were dated to 157 or 156 BC, and the latest up to 83 or 82 BC. Almost all 175 coins were intact and in good condition, except for two that were fragmented but can be restored. “It is one of the very few hoards of ancient coins found intact and provides a lot of numismatic, historical and social information,” Alderighi said.
[1/4] A member of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) looks at a migrant after he was rescued by the ship 'Geo Barents' during a search and rescue (SAR) operation in the Mediterranean Sea, January 25, 2023. La Spezia is the furthest and northernmost destination that Italy has assigned to an NGO ship. Forcing NGO ships to reach ever-more distant ports increases costs at a time when budgets are stretched by inflation and higher fuel costs following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Last month, the SOS Mediterranee NGO appealed for donations, saying fuel charges for its Ocean Viking rescue ship had increased by over 1 million euros during 2022. The new docking destinations policy adds to a December decree which forces NGO ships to request and head to a port "without delay" after each rescue, rather than continue looking for boats in distress.

MILAN, Jan 2 (Reuters) - Italian energy group Eni (ENI.MI) said on Monday it had set up a new company dedicated to sustainable transport, which would develop bio-refining, biomethane and offer mobility products and services in Italy and abroad. Last year the Italian group successfully listed its Norwegian oil and gas spin-off Vaar Energy. Eni Sustainable Mobility is directly controlled by Eni, which holds 100% of its share capital, the group said. Eni Sustainable Mobility will be the second lever supporting the group's energy transition strategy together with Plenitude, Descalzi added. Stefano Ballista, former Sustainable Mobility Director at Eni Energy Evolution, is the CEO of Eni Sustainable Mobility.
The joint project between Spain, Portugal and France, agreed on Thursday and dubbed BarMar, replaces the cross-Pyrenees MidCat pipeline that Spain had said could be ready by 2023 but was vetoed by France. All three countries said the pipeline should also temporarily allow for the transport of some natural gas to help alleviate Europe's supply problems stemming from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. She added that the connections between Spain and France, as well as between the entry point in Marseille and the hydrogen pipeline network in central Europe, are yet to be completed. Fernando Garcia, a London-based utilities analyst at RBC Capital Markets, said the BarMar route would "clearly" not fix Europe's short-term supply woes. The BarMar pipeline would also substitute an underwater gas link between Spain and Italy that was once considered, Ribera told Spanish TV station Antena 3 earlier on Friday.
